Sitting Pretty: Chimney Pots Elevate Architecture

ChimneyPot.com is an online discovery tool — a digital place to learn about and order chimney pots. Contractors also encouraged their use a century ago by including this chimney pot clause:

"Chimney pots are always interesting. They add immeasurably to the architectural interest of a chimney, and if they occur in colors that are unusual for chimney pots they have the charm of novelty"
(Atlantic Terra Cotta Company, 1925, p. 2, Building Technology Heritage Library).

Today these structures sit atop chimneys on rooftops in the UK and elsewhere. Most retain a rich terra-cotta color, although glazing varies color and luster. Rain guard covers add weather protection. Lots of styles and sizes exist. Edwardian models for example span in height from 18 to 50 inches and range in weight from 52 to 540 pounds. Units consist of clay, copper, or steel materials.
